作品的故事舞台为近未来，动画作品《机动战士高达》的塑料模型，通称“钢普拉（高达模型）”在1980年代引起热潮后数十年的世界。在该时卷起了一股“第二次高达模型热潮”的新浪潮。而带动这个热潮的便是名为“高达模型对战”的娱乐。因为发现了新元素帕拉夫斯基粒子进而开发的技术让“高达模型对战”的出现，每年也都会举办高达模型对战的世界大赛。主角伊织诚是个喜爱高达模型，并梦想着有一天能参加弹模型对战世界大赛的高达模型玩家。<br /> <br /> 身为模型店的独生子，拥有制作高达模型的高超技巧，然而却不擅长对战的操作，总是在高达模型对战中的第一场就败下阵来。这样的他，遇见了一位战斗时可以将高达模型操控得出神入化的神秘少年岭司，于是两人组成搭档向世界大赛展开挑战。
