中國的大妖怪飛妖蛾隨大軍進攻日本，當時犬夜叉的父親犬大將在統領西國時跟飛妖蛾大軍開打中打倒飛妖蛾後用自己的牙將他與其軍隊給封印在不歸林的時代樹。飛妖蛾的本體雖然被毀滅，但是其強大的妖力卻留存下來。飛蛾妖一族有繼承其父母妖力因代代累積而變得越來越強大的能力。飛妖蛾的獨子「瑪瑙丸」因四魂之玉碎片飛入體內而醒來後，他為了能繼承他父親的強大妖力需要鐵碎牙的力量來解開封印，於是命令與部下玻璃與琉璃設下種種陷阱，引誘犬夜叉以風之傷擊碎犬大將用來封印飛蛾妖的牙，然後操縱日暮籬與雲母攻擊犬夜叉一行人。
