故事描述擅長挖洞的少年「西蒙」，在偶然的機會下找到了閃耀著光芒的「核心之鑽」，並發現有著巨大的臉的機械，而他所仰慕的大哥「卡米那」堅持有「地面」的存在。 就在眾人將要突破阻礙前往地面之際，村的頂棚突然崩塌，從天上的裂口掉下來巨大的機器人和持著超電導步槍的少女「陽子」。在混亂之中西蒙將核心之鑽插入了巨大的臉，那巨大的臉就變成了一頭身機器人。並在之後打倒敵人、同時也飛出了地面，而眼前的廣大的地上的風景打動了少年們，於是眾人決定在地面上展開旅行。
