從小失去雙親，由姨母照顧的小女孩小蓮，一日由於她因為姨母必須至外地工作來到她爺爺所居之阿爾卑斯山。從此小蓮在阿爾卑斯山展開新生活並且在山上結交到許多好朋友，其中有牧羊少年小豆子，以及山羊等動物們，此外她還在山上學到許多生活上該要做的事，並且將歡樂帶給她身旁的人。
