本作的故事描述中学二年级的学生町子凉，因父母双方都身在海外工作，而原本照顾着自己的奶奶也已过世，开始独自生活后的凉才发现自己料理手艺退步的非常严重，开始后悔当初没有听奶奶的话进行厨艺训练。就在某一天家中突然来了一名寄宿少女——森野麒麟，在凉为麒麟做了一道火锅后才发现，原来变差的并不是手艺，而是因为餐桌上没有其他人陪伴的关系。以温暖人心的料理为重心，凉与麒麟的同居生活才正要开始！
