冥府有個裁定死者生前罪惡的地方叫「十王庁」。其中有個閻魔大王指揮著閻魔廳的召喚課，專門研究死者的問題。召喚課所屬的晝行燈都築麻斗、負責九州地區的黒崎密。發生在外科醫生邑輝一貴身邊的幾起事件引起了關注，受害者在不斷增加。
