外场村是一个几乎与外界隔绝的村落，虽然距离大城市只有一小时的车程，但是很少与外界接触。这里的村民一直以来都保留着土葬和其他古老的传统习俗。<br /> 于八月份晚，村民举行送虫祭的晚上，村民发现一辆神秘的搬运公司货车正驶入村子。不久村民发现住在山入的三名长者离奇死亡，尸体被野狗咬得残缺不全。之后村子里不断地有村民死亡和搬迁。正当大家讨论着连大屋一起新搬进来的一户人家之时，尾崎医院院长敏夫和寺院副住持静信开始调查令村民离奇死亡的 “传染病”，发现了惊人的内幕……
