犬夜叉與殺生丸的父親犬大將過世時持有三把牙刀，俗稱「三劍」，而這三把劍據說擁有能控制三界（天堂‧冥界‧人間）之力量。 這三把劍分別是犬夜叉持有的「鐵碎牙」、殺生丸持有的「天生牙」、以及在日暮籬家的日暮神社被當成寶劍供奉的第三隻牙「叢雲牙」。 叢雲牙其實是一把非常威力強大卻又危險的魔劍，因為叢雲牙的刀上附著有千年的邪靈，一旦落到人類的手上就會引發使這個世界走向毀滅的殺戮與戰爭。這把叢雲牙在被解除長達七百年的封印後，隨即斬斷區隔黃泉之國與人類世界的界線，黃泉之國的亡者們也因此而開始蠢蠢欲動。為了打倒叢雲牙就得靠犬夜叉的鐵碎牙和殺生丸的天生牙一起同時使用絕招。究竟要如何才能讓這對關係很差的同父異母兩兄弟一起合作打敗叢雲牙呢？
