Chen Qian is the so called "meanie" mentioned in the synopsis. Chen Qian grew up in a poor household as the middle child, forced to mature faster and take care of himself and his family on behalf of his working elder brother and his mother, who was taking care of the younger child. He never got to enjoy life as child and was also not provided with a means to education, yet he would sit in on classes done by lecturers in his town. After an old man, that claimed himself to be a cultivator showed up and bought Cheng Qian from his family, Cheng Qian leaves his family, that he never really liked behind and embarks on his cultivator path as the third disciple of Muchun Zhenren (Han Muchun) of the Fuyao Sect.
