Molly's husband and cook who lives and works at the academy. Like his wife, he has a twisted personality and is rough with people, and he abuses Sarah and Becky. On top of that, he is cunning and lazy and doesn't even want to work because of his low salary. He shows that he doesn't hate Sarah as much as Molly (in the scene where Sarah says goodbye when she leaves the academy for a while, James reacts with dismay to Molly, who looks away in disgust), but he never changed his mind. There is also a book in which the name of the servant with the same name is written in the original story, but the character is not set.<br /><br />
