Megumi Yokota was born on October 15, 1964 in Japan. When she was 13 years old she was abducted by North Korean spies, to allegedly help North Korean spies become "Japanese."

Megumi married a South Korean man in 1986 and had a daughter a year later. North Korea and her husband claim Megumi committed suicide in 1994, but a DNA test disproved the remains delivered were that of Megumi's.

Her parent's Sakie and Shigeru Yokota still hold out hope to this day that their daughter is alive and will come home.
